On October 15, 2019, the book series of Chinese Studieswere officially released in Beijing. The books were compiled by ACLR, with Prof. Yan Chunde being the Chief Editor.Prof. Zhang Baojun,Vice President of BLCU, Prof. Li Yuming, Director of the Organizing Committee of Chinese Studies, Prof. Yan Chunde, Chief Editor, and President Meng Bai of Xueyuan Press attended the book launch ceremony.
Prof. Yan Chunde of BLCU has long been committed to Chinese Studies. He founded the journal Chinese Culture Research in 1993, established Chinese Studies Institute and edited the collection of Chinese Studies in 1995. In the mid-1990s, he began to plan the compilation of "Sinological History Series” and brought together a number of renowned scholars involved in the work. Since the founding in May, 2016, ACLR has made great efforts in developing language and culture resources. ACLR fully up holds Prof. Yan Chunde's team to plan the compilation of “Chinese Studies”, and has invited Prof. Yuan Xingpei (Peking University) and Prof. Li Xueqin (deceased, Tsinghua University) as general consultants. Besides, 16 experts have been invited as consultants of the editorial committee, including Mr. Chai Jianhong (Chung Hwa Book Company), Prof. Cui Xiliang(BLCU), Prof. He Peizhong (Chinese Academy of Social Sciences), etc. The "Chinese Studies" includessix series, "Sinological History Series","Chinese Cultural Classics and Celebrity Communication Research Series", "Sinologist Research Series", "Foreign Writers and Chinese Culture Series", "Translated series of ChineseClassics" and"Books of Western Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine". There are 14 newly-released books including: History of the Spread and Research of Chinese New Literature in Soviet Russia, the History of Early Missionaries' Sinology Research, Research on Dissemination and Acceptance of The Art of War in the English World, Research of the American Sinologist Samuel Wells Williams(the first and second volume), the Collection of Key Books of Japanese Book of Songs(the first and second volume), Samuel Wells Williams and Early Sinology in the United States, Research on Translation of The Book of Changes in the English World, Dissemination and Research of Nanxi(Chinese Opera) in the English world, Translation and Research of Chinese Literature in Russia, Historians of the Republic of China and the American Sinology in the United States, Chinese Literature in France, French Writers and China, Research on Dissemination and Acceptance of Tao Te Ching in the English World, History of Sinology in Australia and New Zealand.
