Prof. Yang Da of Waseda University Leads a Delegation to Visit ACLR

On June 21st, 2018, Prof. Yang Da of Waseda University of Japan, along with Ms. Akaike Keiko, Chairman of the Space Concept Research Institute Co., Ltd. in Japan, visited ACLR of BLCU with his entourage and had a discussion with experts and the management team of ACLR. Director Li Yuming, Prof. Wang Shaoxin, BLCU, Prof. Jiang Liping and Prof. Zhang Jinsong, Honorary Researchers of ACLR and Ms. Wang Anhong, the core member of ALCR project, attended the discussion.

Prof. Yang Da introduced the Chinese language teaching mode and method of Waseda University in detail and especially show the sound effects achieved in Chinese language teaching by using Dig, a Chinese language learning system. He also expressed great interests in the Project of Multi-modal Chinese Interlanguage Speech Corpus for Intelligent Pronunciation Teaching managed by Prof. Zhang Jinsong and other relevant projects and expected further exchange and cooperation with ACLR in intelligent Chinese language education.

Chairman Akaike Keiko introduced that the main task of the Space Concept Research Instituteis to transform scientific research achievements. She expected to carry out comprehensive cooperation with ACLR in the achievement transformation and product R&D, in an attempt to apply the latest technology developed by ACLR to the Chinese phonetic teaching products in Japan.

The two sides also had a discussion on relevant academic issues. Based on different teaching and research experience, Prof. Wang Shaoxin, Prof. Jiang Liping, Prof. Zhang Jinsong and Ms. Wang Anhong talked with Prof. Yang Da on issues such as the friendliness of computer-assisted Chinese language teaching, the effectiveness evaluation of silent teaching method and the scoring criteria of pronunciation teaching APP. In addition, Prof. Zhang Jinsong demonstrated the “Erya Chinese”an APP for Chinese language learning, developed under the project of Multi-modal Chinese Interlanguage Speech Corpus for Intelligent Pronunciation Teaching.
