This resource is the result of ACLR's research project the Olympic Winter Games Term Portal. The project manager is Liu Heping, Professor of BLCU, and chief expert of ACLR.
Introduction: This database covers 4,000 multilingual commonly-used terms selected from a large number of documents of the IOC, IPC and the BOCOG (Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games). Apart from the original terms, the translations, and the explanations, multimedia information closely related to the terms has been added such as Braille, audio, video, and webpages. These terms and related information can be searched and displayed through a unified data interface. The database provides professional services for interpreting and translation during the Games.
Data size: The total number of terms in the 2nd version in December 2019 reached 125,000, and the terms for core events were 9539. Among them, there are 27022 Chinese terms, 30015 English terms, 19166 French terms, 12388 Japanese terms, 16111 Russian terms, 11135 Korean terms, and 9539 German terms.
