ACLR Officially Launches Its English Version Website
November 15, 2019

On November 15, 2019, ACLR officially launches its English version website (http://yuyanziyuan.blcu.edu.cn/en).It helps to better display to the world the latest achievements of ACLRin language resources and language intelligence, and further facilitate international exchange and cooperation in related fields. ACLR now has multiple publicity channels including the Chinese and English websites, WeChat Official Account, Weibo (Chinese Version of Twitter), providing services to global users who keep an eye on language resources and language intelligence.

The design style of the English website is simple with a sense of science and technology. The home page of the website presents users with a key-shape against the background picture of the earth, on which the word “Hello” in many languages are displayed, implying that “Language is the Key to Unlock the World”. This is in line with ACLR’s efforts for language resources building, and matches its goal of “Document and Protect the over 7000 world languages”. The lower part of the home page can be browsed by scrolling up or down. 3 scrolling pages show the representative contents of ACLR’s Three Programs, namely Language Resources Bank, Language and Culture Museum, and Intelligent Language Services.

The English website covers columns About, Experts & Staff, Research, Achievements, News & Notices. In order to help users understand the positioning and basic information of ACLR, three sub-columns were set under the About column, namely, General Information, Introduction to the Director, and Organization Structure.

Under the Experts & Staff, there are four sub-columns, Chief Experts, International Academic Advisors, Honorary Researchers, and Administration Team. So far, ACLR has brought together 8 international academic advisors.

We set Project Planning, Major Projects, Achievements Lists, and Transformation of Scientific Achievements under the Research column, offering a convenient access for users to have a understanding of the research plans and current projects of ACLR.

The Achievements are shown in three forms, Language Resources, Applications, and MOOCs. The samples of the collected language resources and the links of established applications are put here. ACLR is now proactively constructing MOOCs and results will be displayed in this column.

Last comes the News & Notices column. This column provides news and latest information about ACLR and its international academic cooperation and exchange.

Both the English and Chinese website are adaptive to tablets and mobile phones, so users can acquire information when using the mobile devices.
