On the afternoon of September 2nd, Prof. Teresa Cabré visited ACLR and had a discussion with ACLR about the language situation in China and Spain. Prof. Li Yuming, Director of ACLR, Prof. Chen Shuangxin, Director of the Institute for Chinese Language Policies and Standards, Prof. Guo Longsheng, Director of the Sociolinguistics and Media Language Lab of the Institute of Applied Linguistics, Ministry of Education and Prof. Yang Erhong,  Executive Deputy Director of ACLR participated in the discussion.

Prof. Yang Erhong, Prof. Chen Shuangxin and Prof. Guo Longsheng introduced the general situation of their institutions respectively.

Prof. Teresa Cabré Castellví notedthat language planning and terminology normalization mainly follow two principles: one is that language should be deemed as a valuable humanity legacy; the other is that language is expected to satisfy communication needs in all contexts. She believed that the communication and cooperation between universities and relevant institutes in China as well as Pompeu Fabra University and Institute for Catalan Studies would be initiated soon.

At the meeting, Prof. Li Yuming issued the appointment letter to Prof. Teresa Cabré, making her the eighth International Academic Advisor of ACLR. Prof. Teresa Cabré is the founder of the Institute for Applied Linguistics at Pompeu Fabra University as well as a renowned expert in applied linguistics, terminology planning and neologism standardization. Besides, she also serves as the Director of the Terminology Planning Center of Catalonia, Spain, and of the Language Department of the Institute for Catalan Studies.
